Press & speaking

I love talking about finding contentment with enough, whether that's on the radio, on a podcast, at an event or answering questions for an article. If you're writing about second-hand style, living on less or the joy of enough, I'd love to hear from you.

Longer bio

Anna Kilpatrick is a writer, former teacher and the creator of Not Needing New. She has lived second-hand since 2013, and started the Instagram account in 2019 to share it. It is now followed by more than 220,000 people.

Anna's life changed when her children's father had a stroke at 38. Bringing up two children on very little money, she found that fewer things, bought second-hand, made life simpler, kinder and more joyful. She left teaching in December 2019 after 23 years to be there for her children.

Her first book, Not Needing New: A Practical Guide to Finding the Joy of Enough, was published by Orion Spring in March 2026. Anna has been featured in The Guardian, The Times and on RNZ, and has appeared on BBC Sounds' Fresh Starts with Stacey Dooley and a number of podcasts.
